In special circumstances:
Some of the exercises we use were adapted from those created by Greg Kersten of OK Corral. www.okcorralseries.com
Those involve only groundwork with the horses, in which the participant's actions are observed and discussed afterward.
*The majority of the time we combine the interaction with our equine partners in groundwork AND riding. At the heart of our sessions life skills are learned through the Christ centered concepts that are taught.
Interactions with horses are much more dynamic than conventional counseling. Horses are prey animals that are always concerned with their personal safety, therefore they constantly search their surroundings for dangers and inconsistencies. Horses usually respond to a person in a way that targets the root issues that need to be addressed. Non verbal communication is picked up and mirrored by the horses, virtually forcing participants to "come clean" with their true feelings and begin dealing with their problems then and there. Exercises are meant not only to reveal problems, but to find Biblical solutions.
"Examine me O Lord and prove me; try my reins and my heart.
Psalm 26:2
